Did we all make it through Thanksgiving? With two young kids, it feels like we’re in survival mode much of the time. But we were still able to have a lovely Thanksgiving with family, and a delicious Friendsgiving that featured the vegan dip below, our apple pomegranate salad, smoked chicken and tofu, and this creamy Basque cheesecake.
Now we’re back to it! For the next few weeks we’ll be sharing weeknight dinners mixed up with some holiday recipes like appetizers, desserts, drinks, and fun breakfasts. The lineup is pretty great, and we can’t wait to share!
PS Our 6 year old Larson recently took some of these family photos: he has quite the eye!
PPS Here are a bunch of Christmas recipes, cocktail recipes and holiday drinks for the season.
The perfect holiday dessert! The tartness of fresh cranberries melds with sweet, comforting crisp apples in a cinnamon-spiced fruit layer. The berries add a zingy flavor and a bright red hue to the fruit, which shines topped with golden buttery crisp crumbles.
Here’s a total winner every night of the week: Greek chicken! We’re suckers for impressive-looking one pan meals, and this one charisma in spades. Bake the chicken with tomatoes, olives, garlic, lemon, and feta cheese, and it comes out with beautiful bold flavors.
Dietary swaps: Make our Baked Fish with the same flavors. Or try Hummus Bowls or Falafel Salad for a similar vibe.
No joke, we are newly obsessed and think this spin on everyone’s favorite dip is better than the real thing! It’s easy and requires no special substitutes, just a few regular ingredients. Everyone loved this at our Friendsgiving and we’ll be making this for years to come.
The best French toast, in our opinion? Sourdough French toast. As two cookbook authors and professional recipe developers, this is some of the best French toast we’ve made. The tangy flavor hints and the chewy, textured structure of the bread take perfectly to the sweetened custard, making a breakfast plate that’s a head above the rest.
