Hello friends, coming at you on this cozy snow day with a book rec! Our friend Michelle Braxton just wrote a beautiful new book that we absolutely adore. She cooks in a vegetarian + pescatarian style and makes the most deliciously beautiful recipes.
We’ve been online friends with Michelle for a while (she’s @SupperwithMichelle on Instagram) and it has been a dream to watch her cookbook dream became a reality. Here are a few recipes that caught our eye as we paged through the book (pics here):
1️⃣ "I Love You" Bowls with shawarma-spiced cauliflower
2️⃣ Vegetarian Black Bean Tortilla Soup
3️⃣ Buffalo Shrimp Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing
4️⃣ Vegetarian Zuppa Toscana
5️⃣ Shrimp and Okra Gumbo
6️⃣ Mushroom French Dip Sandwich
Also, I (Sonja) asked Michelle if she’d do a quick Q&A for you and she said yes! Here’s a little bit from her especially for you all, our A Couple Cooks community.
Sonja: Hi Michelle! We are beyond excited to see your beautiful book in print. Do you have a message I can pass along to our A Couple Cooks readers?
Michelle: Hi everybody! Thank you so much for allowing me to share a little bit about my cookbook, Supper with Love. I do hope that you take some time to check it out! It is packed with over 85 vibrant, comforting, and delicious plant-forward and pescatarian recipes, which are all approachable and easily adaptable.
Sonja: I know your mom was a big influence on your life and this book, can you tell us a little about that?
Michelle: Yes. Unfortunately my mom unexpectedly passed away in 2019 and she was a huge inspiration for this book. My mom introduced me to cooking at such an early age and she kickstarted my love for food and for cooking.
She was also one of the biggest fans of my blog, Supper with Michelle and was always asking when I was going to write a cookbook. So, when the opportunity presented itself, I didn’t hesitate because I know it would have made her so proud.
Sonja: What's a great cozy recipe to make in this cold snap from the book?
Oh goodness! There’s so many! Haha! Absolutely any of the soups in my Soup chapter! I have them organized by mood. So, you have Feel Good Soups, Got a Little Kick Soups, Comfy Cozy Soups, About that Chowder Life Soups.
