I've lived in Juneau for more than 50 years. It is a place that invites superlatives. Even in winter! I love to see it through the eyes of others like you and your family--makes me appreciate it more. For many reasons, Juneau is a place where creative people flourish and where people who don't consider themselves creative become creative. Something in the water, I guess...
That is amazing, what a wonderful place to call home! And you are brave re winters. There really is something about this place that inspires. 💖 It's such a small town, maybe we passed you on the street! Thanks for reading and this comment 💕
I was thinking these photos are from a website / travel magazine. Can’t believe Alex took them. Awesome. It makes me want to check out Juneau for sure but then there’s the matter of a small Plane ride - gulp - how was that?
That is so kind thank you! Alex is very talented (he says thanks!) 💕 It was actually a normal sized plane we rode in from Seattle to Juneau! Though we've also been on a tiny sea plane once in Juneau and that is a little scarier 😁
Alaska is truly a magical, majestic place. We did an Alaska cruise with our family in 2005. Our daughter was 15, and our son was 13 at the time. Our son later went back as a rising college senior (Environmental Science major) for a summer internship with the National Park Service at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. During that summer, he not only ran the Chilkoot Trail, but he also placed 1st in the Skagway Marathon.
I drove to Alaska with my mom and brother from Colorado in 1978! After traveling across Western Canada, we took a ferry from Prince Rupert Canada to Haines, and then drove the Alaskan Hwy to Anchorage. The beauty was stunning, and I remember the whales swimming beside the ferry. It was a courageous journey, but we made it.
My husband and I took our kids to Alaska in 2010 and it was a fantastic trip. We stayed in Talkeetna and caught a glimpse of Denali at 3am as the clouds cleared. The view was majestic. We also stayed n Homer and played croquet at midnight, then walked along the beach. It was a trip none of us will ever forget. Thanks for sharing your trip to Juneau and the beautiful pics. Made me realize it is time to plan another Alaskan adventure!

Oh wow!!! What an incredible experience and how cool about your son! I'm sure those were forever memories for all of you!
We went on an Alaskan 2 week Cruise last fall. We saw so many pieces of Alaska, it is truly a magnificent place. Unspoiled and beautiful.
Beautiful pics! Alaska is so magical in the summer.
Dog sledding at the dogs’ summer camp is so much fun. We did that several years ago and had a blast.
What a special time for all of you. Spending time together and making memories.
Oh how fun! That was a unique part of this trip and the kids loved it so much (as did I, as a dog lover!)
